Hearth & Home Technologies Inc., the world's largest fireplace manufacturer, announced today that it is offering architects, interior designers and other home building professionals a new continuing education course called "The Heart of the Home: Specifying Today's Gas Fireplaces". Accredited by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education System (CES), the one hour course is Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) approved and provides members an overview of today's gas fireplaces, including terminology, fireplaces types, specialty fireplace options, design considerations, venting parameters, selection criteria and key specification issues.

Available in "distance learning" or "face-to-face" formats, Hearth & Home Technologies presents the course via the Internet or at a firm's office for a face-to-face session.

"Fireplaces continue to be among the most popular amenities in the home," said Jim Plucker, Strategic Accounts, Hearth & Home Technologies. "This course presents a great opportunity for architects, and other professionals, to enhance their understanding on how gas fireplace technology has evolved to improve indoor air quality, efficiency and comfort. Beyond improved function, new fireplace design innovations also provide more options to enhance the home's interior design. As a CES Registered Provider of the AIA, we are committed to providing an engaging and quality education on hearth products to its members."

"The Heart of the Home: Specifying Today's Gas Fireplaces" course allows architects to fulfill AIA membership requirements as well as comply with relevant state re-licensure requirements for continuing education.

Professionals interested in the course can contact their local Heat & Glo or Heatilator dealer for more information or visit www.heatnglo.com or www.heatilator.com.

In addition to the AIA/CES, the course is approved for credit by the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC), which certifies continuing education courses to members of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), Interior Designers of Canada (IDC), Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC), International Interior Design Association (IIDA), Interior Design Association (IDA) and National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA).
